Mr. Mitchell A. Neaves most recently served as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement at the University of the Virgin Islands, where he played a crucial role in alumni engagement, external relations, and government relations efforts. A long-term resident of the United States Virgin Islands, Mr. Neaves holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Sports Administration from Ohio University. He honed his fundraising skills by earning a certificate in Fundraising Management from The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

Throughout his career, Mr. Neaves has secured over $50 million in funding. Since he arrived at the University of the Virgin Islands in 2004, he has helped increase alumni giving by 1,100% and expanded the role of the Advancement Office to include government relations. Mr. Neaves has embraced alumni, donors, and stakeholders to bolster financial support, build brands, and increase affinity. His work has supported career development and cutting-edge research, expanded public and private investment, and inspired the next generation of scholars and leaders. Mr. Neaves has ensured that investments substantially impacted the immediate community and beyond.

In addition to his professional acumen, Mr. Neaves is actively involved in community and volunteer work. He supports various nonprofits, including Saint Mary’s Catholic School, Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, and the Community Foundation for the Virgin Islands. Mr. Neaves is also an avid supporter of his alma mater, Michigan State University, to which he credits much of his personal and professional growth.
